This is your chance to join our team and lead the way in advancing critical research. We seek a highly motivated individual with a professional registration to provide effective leadership and management for our established research delivery staff. You'll become a key member of the R&D team, overseeing research operations and delivery within the CRF.

This role is ideal for a clinically trained nurse or AHP with hands-on experience in clinical trials and research. We value the ability to work independently and confidently. The main CRF base is at Warneford Hospital, with satellite space at Aylesbury, and other community settings within OHFT.

Main duties of the job

This leadership role oversees the CRF's clinical research delivery team. You'll manage staff, ensure their training and development, and collaborate with various departments across the hospital and university.

A key responsibility is ensuring clinical research projects run smoothly, following regulations and collecting high-quality data.

This includes budgeting, feasibility assessment, and protocol review. You'll also provide direct patient care and support during research studies. Finally, the role involves promoting public engagement with research and fostering a culture of safety within the team.

Funded by NIHR, our CRF is part of Oxford Health NHS Trust's Corporate Directorate. We value collaboration, support your growth, and offer training to advance your clinical research expertise.

The NIHR Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust's Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is dedicated to research in mental health and neuroscience. Since 2011, we've supported a wide range of studies, from University and NIHR-funded experimental medicine projects to cutting-edge clinical trials by commercial partners. Our ongoing research spans observational studies to interventional trials, investigating conditions like schizophrenia, depression, dementia, and involving both healthy volunteers and patients.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree-level or equivalent in relevant field
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) trained.
  • Professional Registration (NMAHP)
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate training - PhD, MSc, MA in health sciences field
  • Postgraduate teaching or mentorship qualification
  • Leadership/Management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent, relevant clinical experience of working with people with physical or mental health problems
  • Experience of clinical research delivery in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of managing or leading people, with evidence of leadership skills.
  • Experience of audit and quality initiatives
  • Evidence of teaching and mentoring
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of mental health services or mental health research
  • Experience of clinical supervision

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of obligatory regulations and legal requirements of Clinical Research in NHS settings.
  • Evidence of managing the clinical research environment
  • Knowledge of Research Governance
  • Awareness of application of evidence-based practice
