An exciting opportunity has arisen for registered health professionals to join our resuscitation services team.

The role of a resuscitation officer is to educate and support trust staff to provide safe and effective care to deteriorating patients or those who have suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest within our hospitals, working within current Resuscitation Council UK, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and other evidence based practice.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Development and delivery of high quality, evidence based education around the deteriorating patient and the management of cardiorespiratory arrest for adults and children.

Development and delivery of ad hoc training on specific subjects related to those above (i.e. anaphylaxis, human factors).

Supporting procurement and management of resuscitation related equipment and development of systems of support.

Organisational governance around all trust cardiac arrest events to support identification of learning and improvement opportunities.

Clinical support at clinical emergency events and pastoral care and support for staff involved in and effected by these events.

Knowledge Requirements

  • High level communication skills
  • Ability to work with independently or as part of a team.
  • Evidence of an in-depth knowledge of contemporary resuscitation issues includes the Resuscitation Council (UK and ERC) guidelines and recommendations
  • Knowledge of governance issues and NHS standards relevant to the sphere of resuscitation training and practice
  • Awareness of the legal aspects of resuscitation

  • Ability to set up, demonstrate and use training equipment.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills:  Word processing  Email  Spreadsheets
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations

Qualifications

  • Qualified health professional holding registration with a professional healthcare body
  • Relevant higher education qualification, DipHE (or equivalent) or higher
  • Qualification in the management of deteriorating patients
  • ILS/PILS/NLS provider

  • ALS/EPALS/APLS provider
  • ALS/EPALS/APLS/NLS instructor
  • Teaching qualification

Further Training

  • Willingness to undertake any relevant training
  • Evidence to demonstrate a structured approach to CPD.
  • Evidence of high-level communication skills at all levels including verbal, non-verbal and written

Experience

  • Post registration experience within an acute or critical healthcare setting
  • Dealing with seriously ill patients and/or cardiac arrest situations

  • Experience working in paediatric, midwifery or neonatal settings
  • Teaching on a formal and informal basis – delivering training to multi-professional teams
  • Use of IT databases and audit experience
