Job overview

The Quality Governance Facilitator is a member of the Governance Support Unit who will work collaboratively across disciplines. The post holder will assist the Quality Governance Matron in delivering the clinical governance and public involvement agenda within the Divisions to facilitate improvements in clinical practice and reduce risk. 

The post holder will provide divisional support in all areas of risk that include clinical incidents, complaints, learning from deaths and the wider Trust Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement Agenda and will be engaged within the division to support improvements in care and robust governance processes.

The role will incorporate the promotion of a positive learning environment where changes are   established and embedded to improve patient safety, experience, and outcomes.

The post holder will work with the Divisional Governance Matron, establishing divisional assurance arrangements to evidence compliance with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and the Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP), CQC registration requirements and ICB quality requirements to ensure continual review, escalation of related risks at point of emergence. 

Working closely with the divisional leadership teams, the post holder will foster a culture, which engages clinical and non-clinical staff to deliver excellent and high-quality clinical services.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to master’s degree level or equivalent in risk or governance or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical Professional Qualification
  • Project Management –Quality Improvement qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Managing patient safety, Clinical Governance, or risk within a large / complex NHS organisation.
  • Presenting information to committees and senior management
  • Demonstrable previous success in leading and delivering change and performance with and through clinical teams
  • Staff and team leadership skills
  • Achievement of challenging deadlines whilst maintaining quality and professional standards
  • Adverse incident reporting including data capture, trend analysis and identification of system/process changes to reduce risk
  • Dealing with serious incidents / complaints process changes to reduce risk
  • Experience of dealing with service wide policy implementation or change management projects.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a complex changing environment and the ability to prioritise

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Detailed knowledge of governance and risk management & assurance as implemented within the NHS and the NHS Assurance processes
  • Understanding of the quality standards applicable to the NHS (e.g.: CQC / FT / -, commissioner requirements)
  • Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them
  • Knowledge of legislation and standards relating to health & safety, security, complaints, claims and incidents
  • FT Compliance Standards
  • Risk Management systems and standards
  • Experience and knowledge of current approaches to SI management, evidence and awareness of Safeguarding
