Job overview

This is for a Band 7 Ward Manager to lead a busy assessment/admission ward.  This role is suited to an experienced nurse with some managerial experience and involves leading a large team of nurses and healthcare professionals and maintaining  a safe environment for patients in a medium secure forensic setting.

Main duties of the job

Working as an integral part of a medium secure forensic service for male mentally ill patients, your role as Ward Manager will focus on ensuring optimum care provision in our 76 bedded unit based in South Yorkshire.  You will work across one of our four wards, managing a team of qualified nursing staff, nursing associates, bank and health care assistants.  You will work closely within a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, CBT, education to provide high quality patient centred care. You will be responsible for budget management for your area.

Qualifications- Academic/Professional

  • Professional qualification (Mental Health) plus further specialist knowledge/post registration experience to diploma level or equivalent underpinned by theory
  • Maintain current registration with the NMC and adheres to the NMC code. Demonstrates continuing Professional development within their specialism
  • Management and leadership qualification and experience

  • Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery

Experience
