Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing skilled nursing care and will work flexibly supporting the team to deliver high quality integrated care. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be adaptable, reliable, resourceful and approachable. 

Providing integrated care following a holistic assessment which enables patients to be cared for in their own homes and clinic settings.  You will facilitate the prevention of unnecessary hospital admission/re-admission by reducing the effects of ill health and disability and maximising the individual’s potential for independence.

A robust induction and competency-based development package will be provided.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and self motivated Band 5 Community Psychiatric Nurse to work in the Broxtowe area

You will need to be able to engage proactively with individuals using the principles of recovery to provide effective mental healthcare for patients across the mental health spectrum, alongside care coordination for some patients under the Care Programme Approach. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the service and develop your own skills and attributes.

Duties will include involvement in managing a medication clinic, case management of clients with complex mental health needs, utilising professional core skills, working with family and friends. The role will include involvement in the development and promotion of the Broxtowe  CMHT

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. 

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies. 

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

  • Professional Qualification (Mental Health/Learning Disabilities/General) to degree level or equivalent.
  • Maintains current registration with NMC or NMC registration is pending completion of course in very near future
