Job overview

The job includes being a leader in an acute clinical environment, clinically supporting and developing colleagues at ward level.

Working  alongside and liaising with the Ward Sister in a managerial role through regular Trust/ward audits, managing and monitoring recruitment, training and staff wellbeing involvement as well as looking at inspiring ways to implement service improvement.

 

Main duties of the job

Ward F18 is a 28 bedded Mixed Trauma and Orthopaedics ward caring for patients with complex orthopaedic injuries. We work closely alongside our two neighbouring trauma and orthopaedic  wards to deliver high quality patient care. You will also oversee a 4 bedded frailty admission and discharge unit which admits patients direct from the emergency department for early optimisation prior to being admitted to one of our orthopaedic wards.

You would be expected to have excellent interpersonal, leadership  & communication skills, be passionate about delivering high quality specialised care, demonstrate the ability to lead change, monitor and support performance and motivate and develop the team.

You will be enthusiastic, dynamic and committed to providing the best possible care.

You will be expected to deputise and coordinate the ward in the absence of the Ward Sister.

Essential criteria
  • Current Level One NMC registration Competent in medicines management Teaching and Assessing Qualification Possession of a Mentoring Course
