An exciting opportunity has arisen within a well established friendly team for a band 6 duty ward leader.
Berman 1 is a 16 bed respiratory ward.
This role involves working weekdays and weekends.

The post holder will be:
An experienced clinical respiratory nurse, who would like to undertake a band 6 role, to further develop their existing clinical and leadership skills. Experience within respiratory medicine is essential.
The successful candidate will be part of the senior team on the ward. You will need to have respiratory clinical skills, managerial and leadership skills to assist you. We can provide training and support to support you to develop leadership skills.
This role includes being nurse in charge, supporting the team and assisting with capacity and flow.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
Providing day to day leadership for the ward & deputising for Ward Sister.
Working clinically, maintaining high standards of care.
Taking an active role in the success of the division and the Trust.
Be an advocate at maintaining patient safety, quality & improving the patient experience.
Act as resource, role model, develop staff & current practice.
Support capacity and flow.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Relevant post-basic study
- Current level one NMC registration
Desirable criteria
- Formal leadership and management training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant relevant experience at Band 5
- Evidence of ability to mentor, supervise non-regsitered staff and managage clinical area effectively
Communication
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
- Produce timely, accurate written/electronic records and documents
- Demonstrate basic IT skills
Analytical and Judgement skill
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate an understanding of the deputy sister/charge nurse role
- Able to respond to problem situations and ensure effective interventions are put in place
Planning and Organisation
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate ability to prioritise own workload and recognise, prioritise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations
- able to contribute to the development of implementation and monitoring of local objectives and action plans
