Job overview

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen within the Functional Neurosurgery Service at Nottingham University Hospital. We are looking for a Neuromodulation Nurse Specialist to join our established team of nurses and neurosurgeons, initially for a 3 month secondment to cover a career break but with the assurance of an extension on part time hours (with the likelihood of an increase in hours over time) at the end of this if the role is for you.

The post holder will be required to assist in the continuing development of an established hospital based nursing service for patients within the Neurosciences speciality, caring for people with a wide range of conditions who may benefit from the latest advances in neuromodulation technology including Spinal Cord Stimulators, Vagal nerve Stimulators and Baclofen pumps

Main duties of the job

Focusing primarily on functional neurosurgery, after training you will manage a caseload of patients, delivering the very best care to them.
If you want to develop advanced communication skills, be integral in coordinating a patients care across the clinical pathway then this might be the role for you.

You will have the ability to be flexible and organised in the workplace with a passion in delivering high quality care and be able to demonstrate good communication and clear leadership skills. 

The successful candidate will be an effective role model, delivering regular clinical care and will have experience within Neurology / Neurosurgery. You would be expected to work flexibly to cover the service

In summary, the main duties and responsibilities are: Caring for patients throughout their journey - pre-operatively, intraoperatively, post-operatively and at follow up; running nurse and team led clinics; telephone advice; acting as a resource for colleagues within the Trust and beyond.
