Job overview

Due to partial retirement, an exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic nurse to join the Deep Brain Stimulator service.

The role of DBS Nurse Specialist is to deliver a high quality, specialist service to adult patients from the age of 18 throughout their journey, acting as a source of advice and information for patients, carers, and health professionals and work in collaboration with other members of the neurosurgical / movement disorders team.

The overriding purpose of the post is to support the provision of highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.

  • Registered Nurse

  • Degree in a health related subject

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of working within neurology / neurosurgical setting
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in a Nurse Specialist role

communication and relationship skills

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal)

Ananlytical and judgement skills

Essential criteria
  • Be able to prioritise workload in order to meet deadlines
  • Well organised

  • Demonstrate knowledge of current issues related to the NHS and specifically to DBS
