Family Care Deputy Sister
Band 6
Job overview
Nottingham Neonatal Service would love you to join us in providing excellent care for our families and their babies. We are passionate about our families having positive experiences throughout their journey with a sick new born baby. You will focus on the emotional, social and psychological wellbeing of families and promote family centred and family integrated care. This role facilitates the baby’s pathway into the community, working closely with community/homecare colleagues. Liaison with allied health and social care services is an integral part of the role.
The Neonatal Service delivers care across two sites at the City and Queens Medical Centre Campuses. As a lead centre for the East Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network, we offer both medical and surgical intensive care for extremely preterm and very sick infants. Our aim is for babies to be treated in the right place, at the right time, by knowledgeable skilled staff putting families at the centre of their babies care. Through close relationships with families, the service incorporates parent/carer involvement to improve the care that is provided. We are proud to be both BLISS accredited and Pathway to Excellence achievers since July 2020.
Main duties of the job
You will have a good understanding of the emotional turmoil parents and carers experience with a sick baby in intensive care and/or with ongoing needs. You will demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to negotiate and minimise barriers to communication. We will expect you to be able to share information and support staff in developing and leading a family friendly environment and family integrated care. Together we will facilitate Parent/Patient Public Involvement (PPI) to transform care delivery and parent involvement.
Working for our organisation
With over 19,000 staff, we are one of the biggest employers in the city with a central role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population. We play a leading role in research, education and innovation.
