Exciting capital estates development is progressing as part of the Maternity and Neonatal Redesign programme. This will create;
A completely refurbished and expanded neonatal unit at the QMC, providing an additional 21 cots and taking the total cots at the QMC campus to 38

We provide care for tertiary level neonatal care for premature babies and their families at Queen’s Medical Centre and City Hospital, we are the north hub in the East Midlands for neonatal intensive care. We are proud to offer both medical and surgical intensive care for extremely premature and very sick infants, as well as having an integrated outreach team in place to support babies and families once they return home.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our outstanding and expanding team at Nottingham Children's Hospital as a Matron for Neonatal Services. This opportunity is for a permanent position as one of 2 Matrons leading two Level 3 units, which in time will come together as a single site through our maternity and neonatal redesign project and Tomorrow’s NUH. Supported by the Nottingham Children's Hospital Lead Nurse , the post holder will play a pivotal role in the quality agenda, delivery of care and the continuing development of nursing within the teams, continuing to embed our Children's Hospital Nursing Strategy in all that we do.
As a Matron you will have leadership experience, well developed organisational skills , provide a visible presence with daily clinical and professional leadership and support for nursing.

As a Matron across Neonatal services you will provide day-to-day operational, clinical, professional leadership and support for nursing, maintain quality focused standards as well as linking with other healthcare professionals throughout the services to ensure we continue to provide excellent care to all of our neonates and their families.

Main Responsibilities

Training & Qualifications

- First degree or equivalent in health related subject
- Management qualification or relevant experience
- ENB 998 or equivalent teaching course
- Current level 1 NMC registration
- Neonatal qualified in speciality course
- Newborn life support provider
Experience

- Experience of leading and delivering programmes of change within an acute NHS setting.
- Post registration experience including management and leadership experience
- Knowledge of budgets/financial control
- Leadership experience of working within a level 3 neonatal unit
