Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic Theatre Practitioner with the appropriate clinical experience to work closely with our existing band 6 colleagues and team leader to support our excellent team and continuously develop our elective  service, meeting the needs of our service users.

This post will require the successful applicant to provide evidence of excellent clinical skills, and show competence in a wide range of leadership skills.

Gynaecology experience desirable, but not essential

                                                                                      

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a keen interest in improving and developing their leadership skills to enable management of staff, and be an effective role model, demonstrating high levels of clinical competence and expertise. You should be able to demonstrate involvement in service improvement, with some evidence of change management.

You will demonstrate skills in self-management, including time management, prioritisation and organisational skills. You will need to have a flexible attitude to work, be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and have the capacity to go the extra mile. You will be expected to exhibit knowledge of how we work towards our trusts vision.

The successful candidate for this role will be expected:

To support and deputise for the Team Leader, taking managerial, clinical and professional responsibility for a team of practitioners.

To support staff, ensuring the provision of high quality patient care in the most efficient and safe manner in accordance with Divisional and NUH policies and procedures

Person specification

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
  • Can effectively use a variety of communication skills
  • Able to use power point, word and excel to produce documents and presentation
Desirable criteria
  • Can present a mixture of information from a variety of sources.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HCPC/NMC Registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and recent study relevant to theatres/recovery
  • BSc in Healthcare or working towards this
Desirable criteria
  • Junior/Supervisory management course
  • Level 3 mentor qualification
  • A Teaching/assessing qualification

Experience and patient care

Essential criteria
  • 2 years speciality experience
  • Competent in complex clinical skills

Essential criteria
  • Recognises own role as part of the multi-disciplinary team and encourages high standards
Desirable criteria
  • Enables team members to set achievable objectives
