EMAS Practice Placement Lead 

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician and aspiring Practice Placement Lead.  This particular opportunity is open to candidates who want to commit to engaging with formal development and who do not require any formal teaching qualifications.

The role of Practice Placement Lead is an important role within EMAS Education and contributes to the delivery of taught programmes such as Practice Educator courses, as well as supporting the placement in practice of both university students and EMAS staff on an internal pathway. 

Main duties of the job

To take responsibility for the co-ordination and monitoring of practice learning opportunities (placements) for students from a variety of educational settings within the Trust

To ensure the suitability and preparedness of placement areas in collaboration with the wider EMAS education team and external education providers

To develop, prepare and update EMAS Practice Educators to support learners/students whilst undertaking practice learning, by delivering the practice educator course  and EMAS Student Inductions.

To contribute to educational delivery in EMAS, with a focus on practice-based learning and clinical skills

To  work with the placement team and wider clinical education team to ensure all placement data is captured and reported upon for compliance, associated funding and placement quality.  Also have the ability to travel throughout EMAS and work sites as required in a timely manner.

About You 

You will need to embrace the EMAS Trust values and be committed to developing and delivering a high quality service which is student focused. You will be an experienced  Clinician (Registered Paramedic [HCPC] or Nurse [NMC]) in a directly related subject. You will have  a  mentorship qualification or  demonstrable evidence of work based teaching/support. You must be willing to undertake professional development. 

Due to recent developments within education, you must be confident to  utilise online systems (for example MS Teams/virtual learning environments) to undertake the role. 

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Support the education team in delivering the Trust’s learning and development agenda in line with the agreed workforce plans, focusing on placement learning (placements).

Liaise with Practice Education Teams in external education providers (including Universities) to co-ordinate the provision of practice placement for learners on approved programmes, aligned to any contractual agreements.

Liaise with EMAS Education Tutors to facilitate the provision of practice placement for learners on EMAS internal programmes.

Ensure the professional suitability of learners/students by engaging with the corporate administrational team to ensure placement checks have been undertaken and are satisfactory.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Registered Paramedic or Registered Nurse or Registered Allied Health Professional
  • Mentorship/Practice Education Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive evidence of operational/clinical experience in a healthcare role
  • Significant experience as a Practice Educator/Mentor
  • Experience working with other health care professionals
  • Experience in facilitating Practice Educator/mentorship courses
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with University's on practice placement activities
