An exciting opportunity has arisen within Kettering General Hospital, to join the Interventional Radiology Nursing team. 

We would welcome applicants with nursing experience, however full training will be given, so experience is not essential. A  preceptorship period allows staff to build confidence and skills and allows for staff to become competent at handling both the equipment and procedures that we carry out.

Working as part of a caring and passionate nursing team you will responsibly deliver planned, direct patient care to a high standard in accordance with the Trust's care values. Leading by example you will promote the safeguarding, wellbeing and interests of all patients and their families whilst taking personal responsibility for ensuring the needs of patients are achieved.

We are a team committed to delivering and maintaining high quality patient care and are looking to attract nurses who shares our goal. We support a number of services in Radiology including but not limited to Ultrasound, CT, X-ray, MRI and Interventional Radiology Procedures.

Main duties of the job

To coordinate, manage and participate in the nursing activities within the Imaging Department, be a part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients obtain the best possible care when in the imaging department.  

§  To contribute to the day to day running of the service as appropriate working alongside Radiographic and Consultant staff.

§  To undertake nursing duties to support interventional procedures in all areas of the department.

§  To act as patient advocate and chaperone where required across all modalities.

§  To provide the highest quality nursing service to patients and their relatives during their Imaging Department visits by using clinical experience and enhanced skills.  

§  To play a key role in assisting in the development of the nursing strategy and be responsible for facilitating evidence-based practice across Radiology.

§  The post holder will be required to wear Radiation protective clothing (Lead apron) when working in the Interventional suite and in other areas in the imaging department as per IR(ME)R Regulations. 

§  The post holder will assist, when necessary, in the transport of patients within the radiology department and able to operate manual handling equipment. 

§  To use the departmental Radiology information system to register patients. 

§  At all times to adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Professional Conduct 2002 (NMC).
