Job overview
We are looking for a caring and motivated Healthcare Support Worker to join our team in the Critical Care Unit at Scarborough Hospital.
This is an exciting time for Critical Care services in Scarborough as we look forward to the opening of our purpose built new Critical Care Unit.
As an important part of the Multidisciplinary team, you will assist the registered nurse in the delivery of patient care to critically ill patients and their families. The Healthcare Support Worker is crucial in ensuring the department runs effectively and you will support equipment and stock management.
Although experience of 3 months in a health care setting is desirable, the role is open to candidate who are new to care. Your first 4 weeks with us will be on our Healthcare Support Worker Academy. We also offer a critical care induction and critical care competency framework. As a Trust we are committed to supporting you in achieving the National Care Certificate.
We can offer full or part time hours, and you will need to work flexibly covering shifts on both days, nights and weekends.
PLEASE NOTE
- You must be able to commit to our Full Time, 4 week Healthcare Support Worker Academy for your first 4 weeks of employment with our Trust.
- We are unable to provide Sponsorship for this role.
Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Support Worker within our team you will:
- Demonstrate a courteous, sympathetic, compassionate and helpful approach to patients, relatives and visitors at all times.
- Act as an ambassador promoting the corporate image of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust, to all individuals, groups and external organisations, to sustain public confidence and trust.
- Act as a positive role model for all Trust employees.
- Demonstrate a positive professional working relationship with colleagues and other members of the Trust by promoting open communication, trust and respect.
- Establish and actively maintain clear professional boundaries at all times with patients, and any one close to them e.g. relatives, friends
