Lead Macmillan Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist.
We have a rare opportunity for a new Lead Nurse Specialist in our Skin Cancer CNS team in Harrogate, based at Harrogate District Hospital.
You will be leading a small, experienced team of Nurse Specialists and a Cancer Care Coordinator; working alongside our fabulous team of 6 Dermatologists with adjoining Maxillo Facial services, feeding into tertiary care in Leeds for melanoma and non melanoma and to York for plastics.
Main duties of the job
The service provides clinical nursing expertise, diagnosis delivery and support, photodynamic therapy, follow up, education programmes and ongoing holistic support throughout treatment, follow up and transfer to palliative care. Robust, high quality nurse led services are in place and well supported, with opportunities for future expansion and professional development and we work closely with all HDFT cancer specialty CNSs and with CNS teams in York and Leeds.
Previous experience and qualifications in skin cancer, or transferrable Oncology Nurse Specialist experience will be required

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse
- Qualification In Cancer and/or Skin cancer
- Evidence of continued professional development
- First level degree in related subject or willing to undertake
- Advanced communications skills Training
Desirable criteria
- Masters level learning or qualification
- level 2 psychology
- clinical examination
- Non medical Prescribing
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant post registration Experience at band 6 or above in oncology or Dermatology
- Experience of multiproffessional working
- Evidence of good communication skills
- Ability to support and Influence change
Desirable criteria
- Line management experience
- Service development experience
- Experience in Audit and/or patient involvement initiatives
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Skin cancer aetiology
- Knowledge of current national cancer strategy and how it impacts local service provision
- Understanding of a cancer diagnosis impact
