Registered Nurse - Lascelles - Rehabilitation

Job overview
We are looking to recruit a Registered Nurse who is passionate about rehabilitation, patient safety and the delivery of exceptional quality care.
Lascelles ward is a 12 bed mixed sex ward specialising in providing inpatient rehabilitation for adults living with a variety of neurological conditions such as head injuries, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, motor neurone disease, Guillain-Barre syndrome and patients who have suffered strokes.
Lascelles is a friendly ward, which aims to provide and maintain the highest possible standard of nursing care to enhance the patient experience. We have an excellent workforce development programme, and a full induction shall be given to support the successful candidate
You will work closely with the therapy staff to ensure all patients are working towards their rehabilitation goals. You should have an interest in general medicine and a willingness to develop the skills required to become a champion in this field and share those knowledge and skills with your nursing team.

Please note that we do not have any places available for OSCE training in 2024/5. This role requires NMC registration and post-NMC experience.
Main duties of the job

1) To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and to provide nursing care for patients. This requires detailed knowledge of equipment and specialised information on procedures undertaken in the clinical environment.
2) In consultation with senior staff, the post holder will help plan, co-ordinate, implement, and evaluate care for patients.
3) Maintain standards in accordance with ward /Trust policies and procedures and NMC code of conduct
4) Maintain a safe working environment, being aware of the necessity to comply with Health & Safety regulations and the Environmental Health Act, and to attend mandatory training courses.
5) Maintain safe custody of all drugs and medicines and when trained demonstrate the manipulation, dexterity and co-ordination of IV drugs.
6) To work unsupervised at times, using ward protocols and policies.
Person specification
Experience
Essential criteria
- One year post-NMC clinical experience
- Experience of working with stroke / neurological patients in a nursing / rehabilitation setting.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of mentoring/supporting learners or ability to demonstrate the skills required for effective mentoring.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse with current NMC registration (no OSCE training available)
Desirable criteria
- Neuro Courses
- Stroke Care Course
