MSW Education and Development Midwife

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Midwife to join Harrogate Maternity Unit as a MSW Education and Development Midwife .
The post holder will play a lead role in ensuring the development of Maternity Support Workers in line with the National Support Worker Framework. The post holder will be responsible for leading clinical education and associated resources across the maternity services. The successful candidate will provide a high standard of education to Maternity Support Workers. The post will also involve facilitating individual developmental plans with support workers and offering pastoral support.
Harrogate is a high performing maternity unit and we are seeking highly motivated individuals to contribute and develop the delivery of high quality, evidence-based midwifery.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be accountable to the Recruitment and Retention Midwife and will work alongside the Professional Development Midwife, Professional Midwifery Advocates and core midwives, in the delivery of care and the implementation of the practice development agenda for maternity support workers.
The post holder will be required to support the delivery of a high quality, safe, personalised and compassionate care, the post-holder is expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate the values of HDFT; kindness, integrity, teamwork and equality.

The practitioner is expected to ensure that their own clinical practice and that of the other staff on each shift, within the area of practice is of a safe standard and in accordance with the unit policies.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC registration
- Diploma/degree level or equivalent with evidence of further professional development.
- Provide evidence of personal and professional development.
- Mentor preparation course.
- Minimum 3 years post Registration
Desirable criteria
- Professional Midwifery Advocate
Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of National Maternity agenda and maternity training standards
- Minimum 3 years post Registration
- Awareness of professional responsibilities.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment.
Desirable criteria
- Broad Midwifery Experience
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate the mentoring of students and induction of new staff.
- Can demonstrate application of theory to practice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and effective communicator at all levels
- IT literate and expertise including word, excel and management of training database
Desirable criteria
- IV cannulation
- Ability to compile, analyse and disseminate complex information

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
