Hi, I’m Sam, Blakeney wards Low Secure Matron I would like to take this opportunity to get you on board this exciting opportunity to join our team and make a difference, therefore we are looking for a Band 5 Nurse. This is a team with a wealth of experienced colleagues who are focused on recovery and making a difference thereby has a positive impact on the quality of life for our service users. 

Candidates must be able to complete mandatory training for working in secure and forensic inpatient environments, this includes PMA and Immediate life support.

Are you a highly motivated, passionate, and skilled Mental Health Nurse? Do you believe in keeping Service Users and Carers at the heart of everything you do? Are you interested in developing your leadership skills whilst in a clinical role? Would you like to work in well supported, dynamic, enthusiastic recovery focused multi-disciplinary Low Secure team? Do you believe in co-production and embrace its principles? Within this role you will be involved in working alongside the MDT, working within the confines of a robust co-produced care plan that meets the individual service users’ needs whilst managing any risk factors for the individual or others. The recovery focused approach allows an opportunity to work collaboratively with carers, relatives, and other third-party agencies. In addition, this role will focus on proactively supporting reintegration back into the community, linking with third party services such as housing, drug and alcohol, attending all the necessary reviews and professional meetings as scheduled.

Please note this role requires Shift work of day and night shifts covering a 24/7 working week.

Blakeney Ward Low Secure provides a recovery-focused service for men who are experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems alongside posing a significant risk of harm to others. They typically require time and intensive support to aid their recovery within a provision of low security.

By joining our team, you will be well supported to develop further your knowledge and skills to deliver evidence-based interventions for the group of service users. Personal development will be supported through meaningful Appraisal and via a bespoke training package (a comprehensive in house & external training programmes). On a monthly basis you will be offered reflective practice sessions, mandatory clinical supervision, and Line management supervision. You will also have an opportunity to actively take part in Quality improvement projects within the service.

Norfolk is a great all-year holiday, weekend, or short break destination. On the mid-east coast of England, we enjoy over 90 miles of unspoilt coastline, beautiful countryside, the unique Broads National Park, forests and heathland, internationally important nature reserves, picturesque market towns, amazing birdwatching and the fabulous seaside resorts of Great Yarmouth, Cromer. Norwich Airport is 5 miles from the City and you will be an hour and half away by road to London Stanstead Airport.

Ensure that nursing practice is person centred and, as far as possible, promoting the direct involvement of patients and carers in the  development of the plan of care from admission to discharge.
Ensure that clinical practice is consistent with the Care Programme Approach.
Identify personal learning and training needs through appraisal and personal development plans linked to service needs.
Take responsibility for ensuring that personal nursing practice is informed by relevant local and national developments and is evidenced based.
Under the direction of the Ward Manager/Senior Charge Nurse, participate in clinical audit and clinical governance activities.

Act as the named nurse for a group of patients with ultimate responsible for providing an individualised plan of care for each patient.
Delegate appropriate tasks to junior staff were appropriate.
Effective management/co-ordination of shifts.
Share information with other members of the multi disciplinary team, either verbal or written.
Attending appropriate meetings.
Use available resources effectively.
Provide and receive clinical supervision as per Trust guidance. 

Report any untoward incidents, accidents or complaints involving patients, relatives/carers or
staff to the nurse in charge of the area.
Maintain a general knowledge of current ward, service and trust arrangements, operational
policies, clinical objectives, procedures and overall philosophy and working in accordance with
these.
Ensure good working relationships with all disciplines, contributing to the effective running of the ward by engaging in ward discussions and attending appropriate meetings.
Be aware of personal limitations and role boundaries.
Induct new starters to the work environment.
Attend mandatory and non-mandatory in-service training sessions and refresher courses as required by the trust and as identified in the KSF/PDP process.
