Staff Nurse - Sandringham Unit

Band 5

Trosolwg o'r swydd

An ideal opportunity has arisen for a staff nurse to join the team in the Sandringham Unit.

We are a friendly, supportive team that aim to give the highest quality care to our patients. We are a fantastic team looking for additional nurses to join us!

The Sandringham Unit includes a 26 bedded surgical elective ward and a separate admissions unit.

Sandringham ward is very fast paced with up to 25 elective admissions per day and will require someone with great organisational skills and someone who can work well under pressure.  We care for a wide range of specialities.  We also have a very motivational therapy team that work alongside us as we aim to get patients discharged as soon as is safely possible post-operatively.

If you are passionate about caring for these patients and you feel that you want to develop your skills, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Previous unsuccessful applicants need not apply.

As a staff nurse you will be expected to provide a high standard of patient care to all patients on the ward on a timely basis.

It is an acute surgical ward, so you will be required to be organised and cope well under pressure. The role requires flexibility and enthusiasm, as our staff are expected to work across all shifts including nights.

Surgical experience is beneficial but not required for this role as full training will be provided.

This vacancy is for Registered Nurses with full NMC registration in the UK. If you are an internationally trained nurse that has not passed their OSCE (objective structured clinical examination) you will not be considered for this role and will be automatically rejected, so please do not apply.

However we do support Internationally Trained Nurses with their OSCE through the Norfolk and Waveney Recruitment Hub [email protected]. Please note that we adhere to the NHS Code of Practice and cannot recruit from ‘red list countries’ https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/code-of-practice-for-the-international-recruitment

“If you are a new registrant, we look forward to welcoming you onto the RCN accredited Preceptorship Academy at the QEH. This programme offers a supportive development transition into your new role as a registered member of the team. If you would like further information, please email the team [email protected]

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

There’s never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH.  We’re working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out on one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we’ve ever undertaken.

Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.

At The QEH we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs.

We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as ‘Good’, and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.

We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, priding ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit.  We have approx. 530 beds across 33 wards and have newly built education and training facilities, a range of modern award-winning centres alongside a talented team of people ready to give you a warm welcome.  We love working here and think you will too.
