Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the  living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until  the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed

Job overview

Exciting opportunities has arisen for  a Band 5  registered nurse/operating department practitioner (ODP) to join our busy Recovery Room, Main theatre at the new Llanfrechfa Grange Hospital.

 

Main duties of the job

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and flexible staff to join the team in the efficient management of the post anaesthetic patient.

The candidates must possess excellent communication and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise workloads, and also be a team player.

The candidate must have a great work ethic and competent in the safe management of post-operative care.

Experience is desirable, but not essential.

The department does take into consideration flexible working patterns; however this has to be done in line with the organisation’s policy on balancing work and personal life.

The ideal candidate will be expected to demonstrate commitment to their own personal development and show keen interest in line with the clinical futures strategy of this Health Board.

Education/ Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • NMC/HCPC registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner
  • Relevant degree or Diploma
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration course and evidence of Continual Professional Development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse/ODP consolidated training
Desirable criteria
  • Theatre training Surgical ward experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent clinical skills
  • Efficient knowledge& use of medical infusion devices, equipment and materials.
  • Ability to impart own knowledge to others.
  • IT literacy
  • All mandatory training complete.
Desirable criteria
  • Post anaesthetic care skills
  • ILS/PILS trained
  • I.V medications competent.
  • Can show knowledge of care of the perioperative patient
  • Ability to speak Welsh

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of ongoing professional and clinical development at expert practitioner level.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ABUHB policy and procedures.
