Job overview

The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing clinical operations within the Clatterbridge in the community setting, they will ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. Additionally, the clinical nurse manager will provide operational and transformational oversight for the service aligned to the trust’s strategy. This will include implementing and monitoring operational processes to ensure an efficient and effective service. They will collaborate with key stakeholders to develop health care practices within the CIC service to meet the evolving needs of cancer patients. The post holder will also be responsible for the management and service oversight of the of the Bisphosphonate service

Main duties of the job

 

• Responsible for driving the service forward by increasing the medication portfolio of drugs and the expansion of the overall service.
• Promote patient and public involvement to lead on service improvements.
• Manage off duty and annual leave to ensure safe service delivery.
Manage a team of Nurses to provide Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) and supportive medications in their own homes or place of work.

Support with strategic direction of the service
• Provision of professional leadership, motivation and supervision to ensure high standards of patient care.
• Act as a credible role model for the service that will involve clinical commitment.
• Work innovatively to develop and drive forward the service, working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and coordinate on the education for staff to support the service provision to include education and training on all new drugs
• Lead on educating staff to support patient education with self-administration and be the named link for contact for all hub managers.
• The post holder must be flexible.
• To be visible at divisional meetings to ensure the Trust wide information is disseminated throughout the team.
• To liaise and communicate effectively on a daily basis using a variety of communication skills.
• To lead the audit process for the service.
• Organise, plan and manage own workload

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First level nurse – part 1 NMC register
  • Holds relevant teaching and assessing qualification
  • Non-Medical Prescribing
  • NM 7021 Diagnostics and Health Assessment
  • NM6995 Chemotherapy Administration and Care
  • NM 7202 Clinical Examination Skills
  • 1 st level degree or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Master’s Degree in relevant subject

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of innovation in practice
  • Evidence of ability to manage change effectively
  • Evidence of participation in audit and research
  • Knowledge and application of current professional issues

Experience
