Job overview

This post will support the Trust maternity staff in the use of its clinical systems by providing a single point of contact for users of the clinical systems and registration authority. The Digital Midwife will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the use and development of the maternity information system (Cerner Millennium).
The post holder will be responsible for leading and coordinating into clinical care the various facets of the continuing implementation of Cerner Millennium within the department and will ensure correct and adequate staff training is in place for all systems.
The post holder is required to be an experienced, autonomous midwifery practitioner.
They will be working as a key member of a multidisciplinary team and it is therefore essential that the post holder possesses excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be the single point of access for staff and service providers. They will be responsible for the ongoing management of existing systems and implementation of new digital solutions across maternity services.
Provide support, information and plan training for maternity staff on the use and set-up of the various systems, this involves identifying and resolving a range of user issues, whilst assisting clinicians with their understanding of the system(s).
Support and implement the maternity service vision to input into the future design of clinical processes and technology solutions for the area and across the Trust.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month. As this vacancy is within the division of Women’s and Children’s, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.

  • Registered Midwife currently on the NMC register
  • Relevant Diploma/Degree
  • Assessing and mentoring qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Master’s degree or evidence of recent study at Level 7

  • Proven experience of working in an environment with a range of IT infrastructures
