We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our St Helens North 0-19 team as a Public Health Nurse, supporting the delivery of a public health offer to children and young people and delivering the Healthy Child Programme core offer. The role gives a great insight to our service and has supported employees to develop into other roles associated with public health and 0-19 services. We have great feedback from students and staff who enjoy working within a friendly and supportive team.

Supporting the 0-19 service to deliver the public health offer in St Helens.
Managing a safeguarding caseload, including completing health assessments, contributing to multiagency meetings and completing reports.
Delegation and work planning/organisation
Facilitating clinics across St Helens

The St Helens 0-19 service is a friendly supportive team offering staff the opportunity to work flexibly if needed.
We work with the trust values of compassion openness and Trust ensuring that we demonstrate these values to children and families in St Helens and to each other.
We have daily safety huddles to support staff at the beginning of each day and monthly team meetings.
Supervision is available to all staff both planned and reactive.
We work closely with our specialist Safeguarding nurses to ensure staff feel supported and have access to appropriate training and induction

The successful candidate will work as part of the 0-19 service. The post is a permanent contract delivering public health offer across St Helens.
The role also includes providing leadership to junior colleagues and new starters, organising/ work planning and delegation and chairing and attending meetings.

Qualifications and Professional Training

- RN (Adult or Child/RSCN) or RM
- Evidence of recent professional development

- Mentorship level 6
- Modules at level 6 – Public Health Related
- Solihull Approach trained
- Motivational Interviewing trained
- Immunisation training
Experience and Knowledge

- Knowledge of Public Health Priorities
- Knowledge of child development
- Knowledge of safeguarding issues and working with vulnerable families.
- Understanding of role within the Public Health Team

- Previous experience or working in a community environment
- Two years post registration with 12 months community experience
- Experience of data collection for reports
