Walk in Centre Nurse Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 6 nurse practitioner to work in Merseycare walk in centres. There are current vacancies across Knowsley and Sefton walk-in centres (Litherland, Kirkby, Huyton and Halewood). 

The Mersey Care Walk-in Centres assess and treat patients with minor illness and injuries.

They are open 8am to 8.30pm 7days per week.

You will work within the Walk-in Centre team as an autonomous practitioner and be accountable and responsible for the health care management of the patients attending the Walk-in Centre.

Dependent on experience successful candidates will be offered the full Band 6 Nurse Practitioner position, alternatively a candidate who demonstrates potential for this role but requires additional training  or experience may be offered a band 5-6 development post.

You will have the ability to assess, diagnose and treat or determine the most appropriate pathway for the patient.

You will do this by:

Providing high quality, evidence based care to all patients attending the Walk-in Centre.

Working autonomously and providing holistic assessment, interpretation of results, treatment, advice and health promotion resulting in discharge or referral of patients as appropriate.

Receiving patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions in an unpredictable environment and deliver care accordingly.

Demonstrating commitment to developing knowledge of a wide range of minor illness and minor ailments; by achieving competencies in all areas of Walk-in Centre work to effectively assess, treat, discharge and refer appropriately to health and social care professionals.
