The service works with people between the ages of 14 - 65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis. We are looking for a highly committed Support Time Recovery Worker who is motivated, enthusiastic, self-directed with a keen interest in supporting individuals who have experienced psychosis.

You will be an integral part of the multi disciplinary team working alongside clinicians to improve the recovery outcomes for service users under our care.  You will  support service users in their homes and local communities alongside the MDT to ensure they are meeting their individual goals  and ensuring their care is delivered safely, efficiently, and effectively. 

The successful candidate will work along side all members of the team to ensure a holistic, recovery focused care is maintained throughout the service user pathway.

The successful candidate will also work in partnership with other community agencies such as Life Rooms, Mary Seacole and other social inclusion teams across merseycare to link service users into their local communities. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work to assist with the continuity of care for service users within the appropriate care setting and will work from the community environment.

The job holder will provide Support, give Time to an allocated group of service users and aim to promote Recovery predominantly within the community environment and will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users’ and their carers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

CLINICAL

 Under the direction of the Qualified Practitioner, participate in the delivery of planned care within both in Service User and community environments. The post holder will undertake a range of duties which include:-

Facilitate and support the development of appropriate personal care

Facilitate and support self help, communication and social skills acquisition

Assist and promote independence with activities of daily living

Facilitate a service users recovery by assisting them to participate in social, vocational, recreational and leisure activities within the appropriate setting

Promote social inclusion through developing opportunities in areas such as employment, volunteering and education.

Participate in the implementation of specific programmes of care or therapy to develop and enhance socially appropriate adaptive behaviours under the supervision of qualified staff

Participate in regular supervision, engage in reflective practice and be committed to continued development

Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated.

Ensure appropriate records are maintained under the direction of the qualified practitioner.

Contribute to the involvement of Service Users, and carers/relatives in the delivery of care

Provide reassurance and support to service users and carers/family

Work collaboratively within the Care team to ensure that Service Users needs are met

Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations

Contribute to the development of services

Contribute to the effective and efficient use of resources

Help to identify early signs of relapse as described within the care plan and alert the appropriate staff involved in the service users care.

Understand and adhere to Trust policies, procedures and clinical guidelines

Report any concern regarding Service User care to the Qualified Practitioner

Contribute to service improvement initiatives to enhance quality of Service User care

Participate in Service User and public involvement activities

Support individuals equality, diversity and rights

Participate in Serious Untoward Incident investigations/reviews as required

 

EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT

Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to development of others

Fulfil the role of link worker or identified lead for specific topics as designated

Provide evidence to support development around the Trust Appraisal system which may include the KSF or other competency profiles.

Participate in regular supervision, engage in reflective practice and be committed to continued development.

Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.

 

RESEARCH AND AUDIT

Undertake and participate in appropriate audit, quality assurance programmes and research as directed.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care or commitment to work towards
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Health & Social Care or commitment to work towards
  • Phlebotomy trained
  • MEWS
  • Level 2 Smoking Cessation

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in drug/alcohol field either through employment in drugs/alcohol agency or in a voluntary capacity
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of community working
  • Awareness of safeguarding children and adults
