Are you a dedicated and experienced nursing leader with a passion for patient centred care that is looking to take the next step in their nursing career? We have an exciting opportunity for to come and join the Walton Centre senior nursing team as the Ward Manager for Caton ward.
Caton Ward is a 37 bedded Neurosurgical ward that predominantly cares for patients having spinal surgery, complex spinal surgery and those that have suffered spinal injuries.
As the Ward Manager you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the Nursing care on the wards. You will ensure the delivery of high- quality, patient and family centred care, lead and support the ward nursing team and drive continuous improvement to clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
As a Ward Manager the post holder is responsible for the clinical leadership on the ward, driving forward nursing practice to further develop quality patient and family centred care. The post holder must possess a current NMC registration and hold a recognised teaching/mentorship qualification. The post holder will hold 24 hour responsibility for the ward team with support from the Clinical Matron and Lead Nurse. They will ensure that they lead and manage the ward so that safe, high quality, evidence based nursing care is delivered to patients whilst respecting and involving families and carers. The post holder will be the clinical expert and act as professional resource to the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families They will ensure adherence to Trust policies and procedures The post holder will provide effective leadership and management by acting as a role model, having a clear vision, supporting the development of the team, whilst promoting a positive image of the clinical area. The post holder will be required to manage resources efficiently and effectively ensuring that high quality care is maintained They will contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s objectives and the Nursing Strategy working collaboratively with the Senior nursing teams and Divisional managers The post holder will be responsible for delivering some aspects of the corporate professional Nursing Agenda as and when it relates to the area in which they work. |

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 1st level Registered Nurse (Adult) Relevant diploma/degree / equivalent experience.
- Recognised teaching/mentorship qualification
- Basic life support and ‘extended clinical skills’
Knowledge & Experience

- Relevant post-registration experience in an acute adult setting.
- Relevant clinical and managerial experience
