Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for one enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 Deputy Ward Managers to join our ENT and Surgical Ward.  

You will be a highly skilled nurse with excellent clinical knowledge. You will demonstrate excellent care and a clear understanding of how the Trust values translate to our everyday practice.

We are committed to working toward improving patient experience and welcome applicants who can demonstrate positive achievements in patient care.

The role is for full time hours worked in line with the demands of the ward. The ability to be flexible is a must as you will be required to work flexibly over the seven day a week including nights.

Applications are welcomed from Band 5 nurses seeking the opportunity for Leadership progression. This is a developmental role with support and training offered to the right applicant.  A willingness to undertake additional study and personal development  is imperative.  

All applicants with relevant experience will be considered. 

You will be required to attend a face to face interview for this role.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • 1 st Level Registered Nurse (relevant to area of work)
  • Relevant diploma / degree or due for completion within 12 months
  • Minimum of 18 months post-registration experience of which 6 months should be at Primary Nurse or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Management experience
  • Recognised teaching qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Relevant Clinical knowledge/experience of the speciality
Desirable criteria
  • Student nurse assessor
  • Evidence of ability to act as a preceptor/mentor to new staff
  • Evidence of involvement in producing teaching strategies/packages
