Job overview
Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Practitioner (Band 7) for Co-Occurring Conditions to join a successful, friendly and supportive team.
You would be part of a large and experienced senior team within the SCMHT. Wigan offers great opportunities to continue your career progression with regular supervision, CPD sessions and training. We are passionate about enabling staff to develop and grow as practitioners through CPD funding,

We are a committed integrated service that strives to provide quality recovery-based support to people with severe and enduring mental health related difficulties within the Wigan area.
This post is a full time position (37.5 hours per week), although flexible working can be discussed. The post is based at Claire House, but travel across the Wigan and Leigh footprint is expected as part of this role.
Main duties of the job
Provide clinical leadership, supervision, support, and consultation to MDT staff in the Specialist Community Mental Health Team, in line with co-occurring conditions clinical pathways and the standard operating procedure.
Undertake liaison and develop effective working relationships with GMMH and statutory and non-statutory partners
To maintain own clinical and professional competence.
To participate in the duty rota for SCMHT.
To participate in the service bronze on call rota.
Deputise for the Team Manager in his/her absence and take on any delegated duties as required.
Manage and evaluate a complex caseload of service users with co-occurring conditions in line with relevant clinical pathway as outlined within the operational procedure and will include: -
- Assessment
- Formulation
- Therapeutic intervention as required
- Signposting
- Close working with all colleagues
- To be responsible for a complex caseload
To be an active link and collaborator with substance misuse services in Wigan.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Core Professional qualifications
- Registration with appropriate professional body
Desirable criteria
- evidence of post-registration study such as a Master’s degree in a subject relevant to the specialty of health and social care, leadership or specialist practice appropriate to specialty of CMHT or relevant discipline.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of applied post grad theoretical knowledge in specialist area of clinical practice
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Experience of working with service users with co-occurring conditions
- Detailed knowledge and experience of risk assessment and management within community settings.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
