Job overview

Ageing and complex medical ward L5 is looking to recruit and enthusiastic Activity Co-ordinator for the ward to assist in providing distraction therapies to our patients.  

Ward L5 is an Ageing and Complex Medical Wards that care for patients with multiple medical conditions. The teams utilise a multi-disciplinary teams  approach to ensure our patients receive patient centered care. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is keen to learn and develop skills, are a great team player, can also work autonomously and are keen to develop the programme further. 

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will help deliver and encourage clients to participate in socially interactive activities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team liaising closely with the nursing and therapy staff to design person centred activities contributing positively to the emotional and psychological well-being of patients

The post holder will plan, organise and co-ordinate the ward activity programme for service users.

The post holder will document the engagement to activities by the service users and record in service user records.

The post holder will ensure the activities available on the ward are appropriate for the client group

The post holder will support alongside the ward team to ensure patient fundamental care needs are met and dignity is maintained

The post holder will actively plan fundraising events for the ward with support from the Ward Manager

The post holder will network with appropriate and relevant partners and agencies to promote healthy relationships between community and acute services

The post holder will actively lead publicising the activities and monthly campaigns on the ward with the Communications team to ensure the profile of the ward is heightened

The post holder will contribute to the maintaining a safe and effective working environment being assigned duties from the Shift Co-Ordinator/Ward Manager

The post holder will actively lead on promoting patients remaining active during illness and will engage with the healthcare assistants on the ward to ensure activities are available at all times.
