Stockport Foundation Trust is one of four ‘specialist’ hospital sites in Greater Manchester. Being a ‘specialist’ hospital will enhance our general surgery, anaesthetics, critical care and emergency medicine for the benefit of people in Stockport, High Peak, Cheshire and across Greater Manchester.

Main duties of the job
Ward D8 is a surgical and urology ward providing emergency access for general surgical and urology patients referred from consultant’s clinics, GPs, the Urology Clinic and Emergency Department to provide same day emergency care for patient and also comprises of overnight stay for 18 patients.
If you are an enthusiastic, ambitious, passionate, and motivated staff nurse looking for a ward which is fast-pace and has a highly advanced team supporting you throughout your career journey then D8 is the home for you.
You will have the opportunity to work with an extensive multi-disciplinary team consisting of doctors, registered nurses, advanced nurse practitioners, dieticians, pain specialist nurse, tissue viability specialist nurse, colorectal and stoma team nurses, social workers, infection control and pharmacy and many more!
We offer a bespoke induction period and are passionate in supporting your training and career development in which best suits your practice experience. On joining the Trust, you will be allocated an experienced Mentor, and in addition a surgical Buddy! And you will be supported by our experienced nurses.
We value the skills you can bring, and we will support you in developing a comprehensive set of skills in the initial assessment patient, escalation of clinical conditions and the holistic approach to care we strive for the unwell and deteriorating patients.

In order to continually improve all aspects of our patient experience, we rely upon having a highly skilled, motivated, diverse, productive and patient focused workforce.
The post holder will be a Registered Nurse responsible for the delivery of high quality patient care and uphold the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) professional standards. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team they will be an accountable practitioner responsible for the assessing, planning, evaluating and co-ordinating of care delivery .
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
