Specialist Nurse/Practitioner for Safeguarding

An exciting new opportunity has arisen as part of our think family journey within Stockport NHS FT for an enthusiastic and skilled Specialist Nurse/Practitioner to work as part of the wider Think Family Safeguarding Service for all aspects of Safeguarding, this role will have some delegated responsibility for Domestic Abuse such as people with learning disabilities, and people with complex needs along with family safeguarding.

This is a  full-time post, 37.5 hours.

In conjunction with the Named Professionals and the Head of Safeguarding, the Specialist Nurse/Practitioner for Safeguarding will provide specialist safeguarding advice and guidance for all aspects of safeguarding and they will take a delegated lead for Domestic Abuse for the Trust. They will ensure practice is in line with local and national policy, regulatory and legislative requirements. Service development, collaboration and multi-agency working to further the safeguarding think family agenda.

We are seeking a highly experienced practitioner with a strong interest in safeguarding and a genuine commitment to safeguarding under a whole family ethos. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a sound understanding of the issues relating to patients and service users within a safeguarding context. The Specialist Nurse/Practitioner for Safeguarding will work closely with Named Safeguarding Professionals and multi-professional partners working to ensure that the Trust’s statutory responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of patients and their families accessing SNHSFT services are met.

You will be required to provide safeguarding and MCA/DOLs advice as well as ad hoc safeguarding supervision to staff and support in the preparation of written reports both in relation to formal adult protection procedures and for legal proceedings as well as attending safeguarding adult meetings, representing the Trust, and to deputise for the Named Safeguarding Professional as directed.

Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, MCA 2005 & DOLs, Domestic Abuse Act 2021 is essential; knowledge of MHA 1983 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 is highly desirable. Under the guidance of the Named Safeguarding Professional the post-holder will provide training, supervision, specialist advice & support. The post-holder should have significant experience of working with other professionals and agencies to ensure children, young people, adults, and their family’s needs are met.

Candidates are required to show evidence of their original certificates for qualifications to the interview panel.

The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive and asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

 If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
