Job overview

Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your nursing and leadership skills? Are you able to work autonomously and lead by example? Then L2 ward is for you.

Ward L2 specialises in acute gastro nursing. The Unit has 24 beds . You will be looking after patients with hepato-biliary issues, IBS and substance abuse problems. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Band 6 Nurse Practitioner/Charge Nurse.  

The role is essential to support the smooth running of the whole department and you will be expected to regularly deputies for the current ward manager in their absence.

You will need to demonstrate drive, commitment and a strong sense of leadership and deliver excellent patient centred care. You must be able to demonstrate a proven clinical ability at Band 5 or above and the leadership capability to bring the team with you in achieving the Trust goals and values. You will need to ensure that as well as providing clinical leadership, and taking responsibility for direct staff management and the running of the ward, you have the ability to meet deadlines the skills and desire to manage care within budget.

Main duties of the job

Your Contribution to the Team

Becoming a part of this team will allow you the chance to gain a variety of transferable skills such as complex antibiotic and cytotoxic drug regimens, caring for both acute and chronic health conditions including longstanding liver and bowel conditions, pre and post endoscopy care for elective and emergency admissions. Gastroenterology experience is desirable for this post;  Full in house training will be given form ward staff and speciality nurses who deliver training on the ward weekly.

We are looking for a Band 6 Nurse Practitioner/Charge Nurse to join our multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for equally enthusiastic and energetic individuals who are keen to learn, willing to work together as a team but are self-motivated and can work independently when needed.

This area is both rewarding and challenging caring for some of the most complex patients in the trust, where empathy and understanding is required to support patients with life changing diagnosis.

You will also be expected to provide evidence of how your leadership skills have positively affected team dynamics and improved clinical standards within your current role also. You must be able to motivate staff to achieve high standards, and possess excellent communication skills to ensure that the aims of the organisation are achieved.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months. Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role. 

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
