Exciting new oppurtunity to join a brand new team of mental health professionals providing triage to callers to the NHS 111 national service whom identify as being in a mental health crisis you will be leading the team in providing ' Hear and Treat' or identifying the correct service for the caller to provide the most appropriate response. You will take calls and model a high quality, person centred triage of callers to the members of the team, and support them in taking calls effectively and efficiently, advising your team of the most appropriate services for the calls being taken and maintaining quality and professionalism at all times. You will work as part of a shift coordinator team, supporting the service managers, in a busy 24hr service as part of the wider crisis offer, in an innovative collaboration with the hosts Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust to provide the service to the Greater Manchester population

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse or equivalent recognised professional qualification with registration
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Completion of Preparation for Mentorship qualification or willingness to complete
  • Short courses and experience to postgraduate diploma level

  • Management Qualification

Experience

  • Substantial experience as a senior mental health practitioner within the NHS
  • Participation in service development
  • Experience of delivery of clinical supervision
  • Able to demonstrate managerial experience or potential
  • Extensive experience of working with patients with complex mental health needs
  • Working with multiagency safeguarding procedures
  • Experience of supervising the work of junior staff

  • Experience of business planning
  • Experience of resource management

Knowledge

  • Understanding key principles within mental health services
  • Legislation – Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act CPA

  • Role and function of key partners in statutory and non-statutory agencies
  • Health and safety
  • Team cultures and influencing factors in implementing change.

  • Ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels
  • Evidence of effective change management skills
  • Ability to manage own emotions and deal with other in highly charged situations
  • Ability to provide education and training to different grades of professional staff both informal and formal presentations
  • Ability to ensure the team operates effectively as part of the wider mental health system
  • Ability to critically appraise incidents to ensure appropriate learning is identified and used to improve practice
