Senior Mental Health Practitioner (Specialist CMHT)

Band 6

Trosolwg o'r swydd

The Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) are looking to welcome an additional 2 x Senior Mental Health Practitioners (Band 6) to the team.

These posts follow on from our first successful round of recruitment as part of our Community Transformation Plan and implementation of the streaming model of care in the SCMHT.

If you are passionate about supporting people and want to progress into a senior position where you can enhance your clinical skills in assessment and risk management, then we would like to hear from you.

This role will provide opportunity for the successful candidates to support junior colleagues through direct leadership and supervision, and also offers opportunity for involvement in service development.

Staff wellbeing and development is paramount – full supernumerary status will be provided to support induction to the team for the first 4 weeks in post. Your skills and development opportunities will be supported as part of your induction process and reviewed regularly during line management supervision and an annual appraisal.

These posts are full-time positions (37.5 hours) and the working hours will be 8am – 8pm 7 days a week. We also encourage applications from staff wanting to work part time hours. Flexible working can be discussed. The post is based at Claire House in Wigan. The post holder will be expected to travel across the Borough to attend satellite clinics across Wigan and Leigh.

The Specialist Community Mental Health Team provides care, treatment and support to adults with significant mental health needs, living in Wigan and Leigh.

The Senior Mental Health Practitioners will support a caseload of patients with severe and complex mental health conditions under the direct clinical supervision of a Senior Case Manager (Band 7). The successful applicants will join a caring and supportive team and will be supported by junior staff, including Nurse Practitioners, Support Time and Recovery Workers and Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners, as well as the wider MDT.

You will be required to have experience of working in a similar setting and role. While experience would be desirable, we will consider supporting preceptors at Band 5 level to meet a number of competencies to achieve a substantive band 6 over a 12 month period.

You will undertake the duties of care coordinator, managing a caseload of service users, with complex mental health needs, under the CPA framework. You will provide direct care and signposting to appropriate services and interventions to meet the patient's needs.

You would also be involved in managing duty calls from adult service users, with severe and enduring mental illness, calls from their carer's, friends and families, for adults who are predominantly open to the team offering advice and support.
