Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a nurse, or other registered professional to join the Research and Innovation team at Pennine Care. With a background in mental health services, you will be part of a team of nurses and research practitioners delivering innovative interventions and helping to create the knowledge base which underpins evidence based practice in the trust and beyond. This is a varied role which requires excellent communication skills, experience of working with people with mental health problems and attention to detail in an expanding department

Main duties of the job

Ensure that research procedures  are carried out according to approved protocol, guidelines and legislation
Provide complex research related information to research participants and their families / carers when carrying out a research procedure
Assist participants with the completion of questionnaires or interventions as appropriate, in consideration of individual need
To be aware of the psychological/emotional needs of the patient/carer, responding and reporting appropriately
To assess patient condition, clinical situations and report as necessary 
To maintain confidentiality  regarding patients, families and carers at all times. Communicate and liaise effectively with members of the multidisciplinary and research teams within and external to the Trust, providing and receiving complex or sensitive information
Liaise with the Chief Investigator in regards to the on-going support and feasibility of the project. Maintain and provide up-to-date project and recruitment information for the project 
To manage and prioritise own workload and tasks, working to appropriate deadlines and targets set
Ensure that appropriate facilities and resources are available as required per research visit
Actively promote the research study and  other research opportunities to staff and services

Act as an ambassador for the R&I Department
Maintain a working knowledge of current research governance, practices and legislation
Present at conferences, study days and meetings when required

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to relevant degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience (Incl. NMC 1st Level Registration if clinically registered) • Clinical Research Practitioner applicants only: Registration on the Academy for Healthcare Science Clinical Research Practitioner Accredited Register • Short courses and experience to post graduate diploma level
Desirable criteria
  • ICH GCP training • Formal Research Training (including as part of degree course)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in an NHS or healthcare environment with service user contact

  • Previous research experience

Essential criteria
  • • Ability to collate information and produce written reports • Able to organise and prioritise own workload, work under pressure and to tight deadlines • Use of initiative and ability to work unsupervised • Ability to produce accurate, well presented work with a quick turn around Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of staff • Excellent attention to detail

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of office software packages, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access • Knowledge and appreciation of governance, risk and confidentiality issues • Understanding of NHS agenda and primary care community services
