Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 staff nurse to join the team at Hurst Place.  Hurst Place is a 15 bedded male inpatient rehabilitation unit.  We are part of the Rehabilitation and high support care hub.  It is an exciting time  join the care hub as there are many positive changes happening that will greatly improve patient care and reduce length of stay.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of an integral team providing direct patient care with severe and enduring mental health problems.

To act as named nurse with responsibility for overall care of an identified group of clients.

To regularly act as shift co-ordinator ensuring the smooth running of the clinical area and best utilisation of resources available, with support from senior staff.

You will be involved in providing a high level of safe and effective  care.

Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care,

Adhere to all Trust policies, procedure, guidelines and values.

Liaise with the wider members of the multi-disciplinary team .

Provide supervision and mentorship to others.

  • NMC registration
  • Experience of working in an inpatient unit
  • Mentorship/supervision qualification or willingness to work towards
  • Experience of working with a complex client group
  • An understanding of Adult safeguarding procedures
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of risk assessment of the client group.
  • Knowledge of safe administration of medication
  • Experience of working with a difficult to engage client group
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a rehabilitation services
  • Training in Psychosocial education
  • Training in substance misuse
  • Mentorship qualification
