Community Nurse (Mental Health/Learning Disability) - Waltham Forest CAMHS

Are you a passionate Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse eager to make a difference in the lives of children and young people? Waltham Forest CAMHS invites you to join our motivated team supporting Children, Young People (CYP), and their families.

Role Overview: Work across our Behaviour and Emotional Difficulties pathways, providing tailored interventions to CYP with mental health challenges, learning disabilities (LD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). You’ll help manage challenging behaviours, enhance positive behaviours, and support emotional resilience.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder will be expected to complete detailed mental health assessments for young people, including the identification and management of risk to themselves, others or from others.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will bring a nursing view to the team and when representing the service in meetings with other agencies. They will contribute to a learning environment for student nurses and will mentor students. They will be expected to engage in regular clinical supervision and safeguarding supervision.

The post holder will be expected to maintain a caseload of young people, working in an evidenced based and time limited way, including use of outcome monitoring to measure progress and client satisfaction. Interventions may involve working individually with young people and their carers, but also with families and groups. Sessions will take place at the team base and at other locations in the community, so willingness to work in an agile way within the borough is essential.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement – London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
