We currently have a vacancy for two forward-thinking, proactive and highly motivated nurses to join our Pre-Operative Assessment Department (POAD) for 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis.

We are looking for the post holder to be able to work effectively as part of a team both internally and with external partners, maintain a flexible approach to service development and demands and be able to contribute to service and new pathway development.

The focus would be on ensuring we are providing high quality care that is responsive to the needs of our population whilst supporting the senior team with the development of the POAD department.

Job summary

The post holder will be expected to work autonomously and independently. 
Be responsible for their own caseload including cancellation of admissions 
and following up referrals and investigations for more complex patients. 

Take an in-depth history from patients and evaluate previously known 
health issues.

Ensure the appropriate pre-operative investigations are requested and that and that abnormal findings are actioned as required.

Assist in the implementation of policies and act in accordance with the 
decision-making process.

Keep accurate records as per trust policy and ensure effective 
communication.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
