An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Renal Transplant outpatients’ service. This leadership post has an equal share of clinical and managerial roles.

We are looking for an experienced renal nurse who is an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual and has a strong sense of team spirit to lead our friendly team. Flexible working hours will be considered.

As a Band 7 you will:

· Be a clinical expert in all aspects of renal transplantation.

· Lead the team and be a role model in line with St Georges trust values.

· Lead on quality improvement projects within the service.

· Have excellent communication skills

· Develop practices in line with BTS and RA guidelines.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  •  To be responsible for the coordination and management of the Renal.
  • Transplant Clinic in conjunction with the multidisciplinary teams.
  • To ensure the smooth running of the Transplant Clinic and ensure that patients always receive high quality care.
  • To provide education/information and support to relatives and carers and staff.
  • To ensure that positive attitudes prevail in the transplant programme.
  • To maintain a highly effective communications network.
  • To expand and develop the role of the transplant clinic nursing staff in clinical practice.
  • To ensure that administrative and support services are designed to meet the highest standards of care delivery.
  • To provide a visible, accessible, and authoritative presence for whom patients and their families can approach for advice and support.
  • To take specific responsibility for staff recruitment and development, managing financial resources and improving the quality of clinical services.
  • To provide professional and educational support to other areas within the renal service.
  • To initiate or support audit/ research projects within the service.
  • To lead the team in implementing quality improvement changes.
  • To develop transplant information leaflets, appropriate for patient education.
  • To be familiar with current legislation on transplantation. 
  • Act as a specialist resource on renal transplantation within the Trust.

We are a tertiary centre for renal patients and have close links with St Helier Hospital Renal Transplant Services and Royal Sussex County Hospital Renal Transplant Services. 

Our transplant service achieved a milestone in 2019 when over 170 kidney transplants were performed.  Our patients’ outcomes are some of the best in the UK and we continuously strive to improve and expand our service. 

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to be part of the integration preparations and service expansion of the two Renal Units (St George’s and Epsom St Helier Hospital) This is an exciting time to join our renal team at St Georges.

With nearly 9,000 dedicated staff caring for patients around the clock, they are the largest healthcare provider in southwest London.

Their main site, St George’s Hospital in Tooting – one of the country’s principal teaching hospitals – is shared with St George’s, University of London, which trains medical students and carries out advanced medical research. St George’s Hospital also hosts the St George’s, University of London and Kingston University Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences, which is responsible for training a wide range of healthcare professionals from across the region.
