South West London and St Georges /  South London and Maudsley’ Adult Eating Disorders Community  service,  is one of two specialist eating disorders community services within the South London Partnerships’ (SLP) Adult Eating Disorder Provider Collaborative , providing specialist eating disorders care. The SLP is a collaboration between South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. The Partnership brings together clinical and service user expertise, working to improve quality, use resources most effectively, and deliver best practice consistently to the service users and families across South London.

Both community services  within the SLP are recruiting a number of multidisciplinary roles for an innovative new Enhanced Treatment Team for south London . This Enhanced Treatment Team will work closely with the SLP Single Point of Referral to provide an alternative to inpatient care and will provide support to service users and their families in their own home. The teams will be working across the whole of south London to deliver this  innovative approach which enables people to access serives swiftly , potentially avoid admission and to receive care near to home for time limited periods where required.

The Eating Disorders Service offers a specialist mental health service to people aged 18 years and older with a range of eating disorders. The service comprises of a Specialist Inpatient Ward which is a National Service, a Day Unit and Out-Patient Service that both offer a service to the population of Merton, Sutton, Wandsworth, Kingston and Richmond. You would be working as part of the Adult Multi-disciplinary Out-patient Team comprising of Nurse practitioners, Doctors, Dietician, Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Out-Reach Workers.

The ETT will sit within the community eating disorders service to provide a local alternative to inpatient treatment (reducing admissions) and by nature be less restrictive. The ETT will support discharges from wards and work to reduce length of stay (LoS). Reduction of inpatient bed use by south London patients will enable an increase in inflow income opportunities from non-south London geographies. It is possible that the ETT will have wider system benefits in terms of reducing the number of individuals who require an acute hospital admission. Patient accessibility will be improved as treatment and support will be provided in patients’ homes. The ETT build on learning from the pandemic and addresses a gap in provision. Patient experience and outcomes – including physical health monitoring and a reduction in deterioration – will be improved.

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting

Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.
