Trosolwg o'r swydd

·         Responsible for the operational management and professional leadership for all areas of the Emergency Department.

·         To be a highly visible and proactive leader acting as a clinical resource and ensuring the sustained delivery of high standards of nursing care and service delivery.

·         To be responsible for the quality of the patient’s environment and lead on facilitating changes which improve the patient’s experience.

·         To play a key operational role and maintain a proactive approach to managing patient flow through the service.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

·         To be highly visible, accessible, and approachable leader to staff, patients, careers, families, and the public, ensuring that open channels of communication are created and sustained, and that high standards of care are achieved.

·         To be responsible for maintaining an overview of the standards of care being delivered across the Emergency Department, instigating remedial action to improve practice as necessary.

·         To be responsible for ensuring that clinical initiatives and service developments become truly embedded in clinical practice and that staff have a clear understanding and opportunity to contribute to the change process.

·         To maintain a high clinical profile through the ‘Clinical Matron of the day’ role and frequent quality assurance rounds of the clinical area and through regular quality ward/departmental rounds/ drop in sessions.

·         To maintain personal clinical competence and acumen through regular, direct clinical involvement.

·         To be responsible for demonstrating continuous improvements in standards of clinical nursing care within areas of accountability.

  • - NMC Registered Nurse
  • - BSc/1st Degree or equivalent
  • - Specialist training, experience and short courses relevant to urgent/emergency care such as emergency nursing course or acutely ill adult
  • - Teaching & Assessing Qualification

  • - Management / leadership
  • - MSc in relevant subject
  • - Advanced assessment course

Experience

  • - Experience at senior nurse level band 7 or above
  • - Emergency floor experience
  • - Service development and audit experience
  • - Understanding of governance and assurance systems and application to practice
