Job overview

  • We are looking for  Band 6 experienced sexual health nurses x 2. 
  • The senior nurse will be a direct provider of nursing care to clients with contraception and sexual health needs attending the Wolverton Centre.
  •  Sexually transmitted infection screening and treatment and the provision of contraceptive advice are a key aspect of the team’s role and function.
  •  The nursing team also undertake and ensure successful partner notification and contact tracing for clients with positive infections within appropriate time frame. The role may cover both hospital and community based work.

Main duties of the job

  • The Wolverton is a well-established Contraception, Sexual Health and HIV service based at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 
  • Clients contacting the service have access to appointments for all aspects of care, medication collection services including PrEP and booked appointments as indicated by the client's need.
  • Specialist services run by The Wolverton include routine and complex contraception.
  • Band 6 nurses within the service are central to the smooth running and excellent client care that we offer.
  • As well as directly working with clients during consultations the senior nursing team oversea the results and partner notification process, provide leadership and management to junior technician and nursing staff as well providing the core staff for contraception and Implant requesting clients.

  • NMC nursing registration
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship qualification
  • DFSRH or equivalent
  • Implant trained - Faculty or equivalent
  • Nurse prescriber

Knowledge

Experience
