Job overview
We are looking for a full time time clinician to cover the London Borough Waltham Forest.
The Perinatal Parent Infant Mental Health Service is a specialist multi-disciplinary service in NELFT NHS Foundation Trust. The team has developed assessment, treatment interventions and seamless care pathways for women who have mental ill health in the perinatal period. The service is essential as the perinatal period is a critical time of development for a baby and the baby’s parents and siblings. It can also be a time of accentuated risk
The Service provides assessment, treatment interventions and seamless care pathways for women experiencing mental ill health during the Perinatal period, up to a year postnatally. The Service works closely with Maternity Services, Adult Community Recovery Teams, Home Treatment Teams, Adult Psychological Services, Primary Care Services and Social Services within the four boroughs.
As well as offering direct clinical interventions, the team is establishing expert consultancy and support and supervision frameworks for a range of professionals across all tiers of intervention in the statutory and non-statutory sectors locally.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a qualified RMN, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist to provide mental health interventions to pregnant women and/or their partners/significant others.
As a member of the multidisciplinary Perinatal Parent Infant Mental Health Service, the post holder will work constructively with colleagues to ensure a carefully planned ‘safety network’ of care is available for parents and babies. You must have post qualification experience within a mental health setting and experience of working in the community as a qualified Practitioner; and working with Safeguarding children cases.
Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable, and/or a keen interest in this specialist area. An Awareness of Antenatal and postnatal Nice Guidelines is also desirable

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
- RMN, RGN, RNLD, OT, or Social Work Registration with relevant professional body
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification or other specific job related post-registration qualification (eg Mentoring and Enabling Learning in Practice, ENB-998 or equivalent)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Working with adults who have complex mental health needs
- To have experience in working/liaising with multi-disciplinary teams, internal and external agencies in the provision of care
- Ability to work under pressure, quickly and effectively, making timely clinical decisions in conjunction with the MDT
- Ability to work both independently and as part of the team
Desirable criteria
- awareness of perinatal/postnatal concerns
Skills
Essential criteria
- Basic awareness of IT and IT skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, especially the ability to engage with service users and significant others in busy/high pressure environments
knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of contemporary evidence based ‘best practice
- Understanding the Health & Social Care Act and its application
- Understanding of NICE antenatal/postnatal CQC and DoH guidance
