Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for keen and enthusiastic band 2 Healthcare Assistants to join our team on Coronary Care Unit (CCU) 

CCU is an eight bedded ward that accepts patients under the specialty of cardiology from the Accident and Emergency department, the cardiac catheter lab and the outpatient clinic.  It is busy and dynamic unit which  has 8 monitored beds .

As a successful candidate you will be able support the nurses in providing high quality patient care in a busy and dynamic environment.

We are committed to education of staff so a desire for personal professional development and computer literacy is essential.

Previous experience and interaction with patients in a care environment is essential. 

Main duties of the job

To assist qualified staff in undertaking personal care duties for patients.

To report patient condition to qualified staff and escalated any abnormalities with their vital signs.

To seek clarification from trained staff whenever the post holder is uncertain about their responsibilities or duties at any time.

To provide personal care to patients with care and compassion

To respect patients individuality and maintain privacy and dignity

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE/GCE O’ Level or demonstrate experience in a similar role.
  • GCSE Level English and Mathematics
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 2 in Healthcare

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • The basic elements of personal care. Including washing, dressing, assisting with toileting, nutritional support, moving and handling
  • The experience of monitoring vital signs.
Desirable criteria
  • Acute NHS Hospital experience as a Health Care Assistant.

Skills, abilities and attributes

  • Good written and spoken English
  • Team Worker
  • Basic numeracy skills
