Job overview

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, well motivated and innovative thinking Junior Sister/Charge Nurses to join our busy Paediatric Unit at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust  Hampstead Site. The role is for individuals who can work flexibly  across out three main areas: 20 bedded children's inpatients ward; 9 bedded ambulatory/day surgery ward and Children Outpatients, you may be required to support the Paediatric Emergency Department. This will provide you with well rounded acute children's nursing experience at a Band 6 level with opportunity for further  professional development.

We care for children age 0-18yrs old. Our speciality includes Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedic and General Surgery, Allergy, Gastroenterology as well as general childhood medical conditions.

Our busy Paediatric Outpatients Department service includes Allergy, Asthma, ENT, Plastics Dressing/ Trauma Clinic, Neurodevelopmental, Ophthalmology, Tongue Tie Division, Gastroenterology, Jaundice and Infant Follow up, Diabetes, Cardiology, Lipid and Rheumatology and a dedicated Paediatric Phlebotomy Service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work under the direction of the ward sister/ charge nurse with responsibility for:
 The assessment of care needs for all patients, ensuring appropriately planned care is both implemented and evaluated.
He/ she is expected to work with minimal supervision and will be designated to take charge of the unit on a regular basis.
He/ she will act as an effective clinical leader and will ensure the clinical and
professional development of all staff for whom they are responsible.
Circumstances may arise for the post holder to assist in providing clinical cover in all areas of the paediatric unit.
