An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist / Lead Nurse to join our established, friendly and supportive team of Clinical Nurse Specialists.
We are looking for a committed and experienced nurse with clinical ultrasound qualification in gynaecology and early pregnancy, with the experience and skills within abortion care, early pregnancy, and gynaecology to work within this nurse led unit. We have a wide mix of patients, and we have a reputation for providing them with an exceptional level of care. The successful candidate will therefore have good communication skills and will be motivated to provide a high-quality service to our patients.
The post holder will provide senior leadership for this dedicated service with the support from the gynaecology clinical nurse specialist team and work with the Lead Clinicians with regards to the ongoing development of the service. The lead nurse will report to the Head of Nursing for Gynaecology, Fertility and Urology.
You should be a forward-thinking individual who is able to work independently in support of the imaging requirements for women's health. You will also possess the necessary leadership/management qualities to enhance the delivery of this service
The post is currently being offered as 30 -37.5 hours. The hours of work will be covered Monday to Friday with the requirement to support Saturday’s if required
Main duties of the job
- To provide senior leadership to the gynaecology nursing team specifically in relation to the abortion care, early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology service and work closely with the Lead clinician and Head of Nursing.
- To lead the development of gynaecology services on behalf of the Trust, within the context of the Divisional team and also trust wide.
- To develop and improve the delivery of gynaecology services in conjunction with the lead clinician for gynaecology, the divisional management team and all key users.
- To be responsible for the provision of cost-effective patient care, ensuring that it is evidence based and of a high standard.
- To be responsible for the overall professional performance of the nursing staff within Gynaecology services
- To ensure appropriate use of all resources, delegated budgets and staffing, taking in to account the fluctuating demands of workload and service developments.
- Provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence that staff, patients and their families can turn for assistance, advice and support.
- To undertake 40% clinical duties as part of the clinical role which includes supporting ultrasound scanning within the specialist area.
