Clinical Lead Practitioner

Theatre Lead, General/Breast/Colorectal Theatres, Croydon Elective Centre/Emergency Surgical Centre
We currently have an opportunity within the surgical directorate for a highly motivated, dynamic and experienced practitioner to lead theatres. This role incorporates overseeing our Croydon Elective Centre and Emergency Surgical Centre .
Our innovative CEC is delivering pre Covid activity at over 100% and we are consistently in the top 3 for theatre productivity in London. This achievement has been recognised with a recent article in the Sunday Times!
This post for a theatre lead, will involve you demonstrating an ability to work within a specialty team and rotate taking lead as floor coordinator, to manage and supervise the daily running of both the Croydon Elective Centre and the Emergency Surgical Centre departments.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will continue to develop skills, knowledge and expertise of their team through education, training and clinical practice, whilst assisting in the improvement of the overall quality of the surgical service within the Directorate.
The overall job purpose of the theatre lead is to have continuous 24-hour responsibility for leading and co-ordinating the clinical teams. This includes acting as an expert resource for the team.
The post holder will need to adopt a highly visible and accessible approach for patients, their relatives/carers and staff.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Nurse or Operating Department practitioner/registration with the NMCor HPC
- Accredited Theatre course relevant to the area
- Educated to degree level or equivalent with evidence of continuing education and professional development
- Management qualification or equivalent experience
- Relevant course Assessors and supervisor(mentorship)
Desirable criteria
- Working towards Masters Degree in Health Care
knowledge and understanding
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate Knowledge of the application of evidence based Theatre practice
- Demonstrate an understanding of the assessment process for students nurses and of creating a learning environment
- Evidence of teaching and mentoring
- Demonstrate knowledge of Audits and evidence of being involved in audits
- Understanding of current NHS issues , clinical Governance & risk assessment
- Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing initiatives
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate knowledge of HR processes
- Experience in the supervision of students, support staff/others
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience and up to date knowledge of theatre practice .
- Extensive experience at Band 6 level within theatres.
- Evidence of arranging, chairing and minuting meeting
- Demonstrate evidence of leadership skills and critical thinking
- Evidence of ability to work independently as well as in a team
