Job overview

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work under the direction of the ward manager with responsibility for: 

The assessment of care needs for all patients, ensuring appropriately planned care is both implemented and evaluated.

He/ she is expected to work with minimal supervision and will be designated to take charge of the ward in the absence of the manager.

He/she will provide care to patients without supervision to facilitate the prevention of admission or reduction in hospitalisation.

He/ she will act as an effective clinical leader and will ensure the clinical and professional development of all staff for whom they are responsible.

Circumstances may arise for the post holder to assist in providing clinical cover in all areas of the paediatric unit.

  • Experience of working with the MDT.

  • Experience or risk management / clinical governance / policy and procedure development
