Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse

NHS AfC: Band 6

We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Job overview

Do you want to develop your Urology skills and knowledge or are a urology nurse already?

Are you an enthusiastic emergency nurse looking for a challenge in our 24/7 emergency admissions unit?

Or do you aspire to be an expert in the management of the complex urological surgical patient?

We currently are lucky enough to have a band 6 vacancy across the unit and would be interested to hear from anyone who has an interest/experience in urology and are ready for the challenge of a band 6 post.

If you are an experienced nurse preferably with  urology  & triaging knowledge and skill, are enthusiastic and passionate about nursing, then why not be part of our new expanding post reconfiguration urology unit.

The future for urology is exciting post reconfiguration, come and be part of the team that help to shape Urology services in Leicester to be one of the best in the UK.

Main duties of the job

Ward 29 is our dedicated 14 bedded emergency admission ward and triage area which accepts urological referrals 24/7. We are the busiest urology admissions unit in the UK currently and are looking for dynamic individuals to assist in implementing nurse led discharge, community patient pathways and generally fulfil the role of a deputy Sister.

You must be able to work on your own initiative, be forward thinking with good prioritisation and organisational skills and have the desire to be part of an expanding nursing team who are at the forefront of ever developing Nurse-led services. Excellent communication skills are key not only to improving your patients experience but also to contribute towards effective teamwork.

We are dedicated to invest our time in developing you professionally as an individual.  You will have your own personal support through the specialist nurse team and consultant body in order to meet your own development needs.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
